The Franklin Farmers' Market has a strong sense of involvement with the community. It is second nature for a farmer to share the fruits of their labor and look after folks who may not have all they need. This year, in a partnership with Feed America First and Good Food for Good People, the excess food at the end of the Market Day is gathered and distributed in two neighborhoods in Franklin. In 2007, the producers that make up the Market donated over 22,000 pounds of fresh food directly into families homes who sometimes experience a shortage of food.
Thanks to the financial support of Wild Oats Marketplace, the market is also able to host a booth focused on Taking Action Locally. Our guests are invited to educate our community on issues that involve the protection of open space, water quality and the protection of natural resources that make Middle Tennessee a livable and sustainable place to live. If you and your group would like to table at our event, please contact our Market organizer at 615-585-1294 and discuss the details of this opportunity.
